The bonding system is basically an agreement where a defendant, family member or someone else close to the defendant agrees to post money in exchange for the individual's release from jail. The bail bond agent loans the defendant, family member or other person, known as indemnitor, the amount of money needed to post bail. A bail indemnity agreement is made between the defendant, family member or other person to guarantee the appearance of the defendant in court. The indemnitor also agrees to payment on all losses should defendant fail to appear or should there be a breach of bond.
A bail bond application is prepared and copies of driver's license, utility bill, and pay stubs will also be required. Other acceptable forms of identification include military ID, passport, W2, bank statement, and pay check.
